ncs - impact

For NCS, a Singapore-based tech company, I directed 3D visuals for a large-scale screen installation at the entrance of their annual conference. The piece was designed to illustrate the evolution of digital technology through layered geological metaphors, from the past of deep bedrock to present day surface sand.

I collaborated closely with the Art and Design Directors to translate their core concept into a clear and executable 3D creative. I led the 3D team in developing visuals that met both the creative brief and the demands of a tight production timeline.

material explorations

Look development for this project posed a unique challenge, we needed to create visuals that clearly referenced geological layers while aligning with the brand’s modern and sophisticated tech identity.

Striking the right balance between accurate nature and innovative was key. Through extensive exploration of rock materials, color palettes, and forms, we arrived at a solution that combined realistic geological geometry with a bold and stylized colors. Adding a few abstract layers in-between the whole as the finishing touch.

Styleframes

At the start of the project, the Art Director and Creative provided these initial styleframes that served as our visual jumping-off point. While it successfully introduced the core concept to the client, it lacked the depth and dynamic quality we were aiming for and leaned too heavily into a purely natural aesthetic. It needed a more sophisticated and modern feel.

My task was to direct the 3D team into translating this early sketch into the final deliverable, addressing all these concerns.
